Riddles to be answered in English only!
These two riddles are for students of English, and therefore are to be answered in English only: (Hai câu đố này dành cho các bạn học tiếng Anh, nên chỉ được giải bằng tiếng Anh thôi)
1. Why isn't your nose twelve inches long? (Tại sao cái mũi cuả bạn không dài đến 12 inches được?)
2. Why do birds fly South in the winter? (Tại sao chim bay về phương Nam khi Đông về?)

Hello iamme:
Thank you for responding, but sorry both of your answers are incorrect. Riddles are basically word games, and every language has its own ways of playing the games.
For example, vvsaola said : "con rồng - con cua -> con rùa - con công", while vothuylinh wrote : " Con Ốc con nhện = con ếch con nhộng", or "Con cóc con sáo = con cáo con sóc ..."

Don't worry, doremi! You don't need to be really good in English to be able to answer my riddles. Of course, nobody has a 12-inch long nose.

Here is the answer to the first riddle (Đây là trả lời cho câu đố thứ nhất).
- Why isn't your nose 12 inches long?
We all know 12 inches = one foot = about 30 centimeters.
Here's the game: You have a nose on your face, but not a foot!
Cái mẹo ở đây là tiếng Anh, foot = cái chân, và cũng = một bộ = dài bằng 12 inches!

Hello Ong Tre and Other Friends,
I know my answer is definitely not 100% correct, but I’d like to contribute my opinions.
Question 1 : honestly, I don’t know the answer.
Question 2 : The birds migrate to the South in the winter for survival and good environment to produce more little birds.
In my opinions, they may be right or may be wrong, this forum is an excellent place to exchange different ideas. If any one makes a mistake in English or in any thing, we could improve it in a constructive and positive way instead of a negative way. It is a fact of life, we attempt to do any thing in life, in one way or another, we make mistakes. This is the only way we can learn something new. If we don’t want to make mistakes, the only answer is that we don’t do anything. If we don’t do anything, obviously we don’t gain anything.
For example, babies try to walk, they fall down hundred times before they can walk. We know, each time they fall down, they get hurt. We haven’t heard the parents said babies you fall down many times, please give up. They say keep trying until you can …. walk.

1. Why isn't your nose twelve inches long?
Answer: Twelve inches is one foot. Your nose is on your face, not your foot!
2. Why do birds fly south in the winter?
Answer: Because it is too far for them to walk!
Now, what are the names of babies of the following animals?:
1. Cattle (Mục súc): Thí dụ viết vào đây "Calf" = con bê
2. Bear (Gấu) ...
3. Chicken (Gà)...
4. Dog (Chó)...
5. Cat (Mèo) ...

The Vietnamese names are so easy to learn: just add the word "con". For example: Chó con, Gà con, etc...
If you cannot find the English word(s), it will be OK to say "Baby horse", "Baby whale", but you don't learn anything that way!
I strongly urge other students of English to take part in the fun, but not just those who have already joined.

I encourage students of English to read those interesting riddles and try to solve them! It would be perfect if you could write your answers in English. But if you don't feel comfortable to write in English, you may write in Vietnamese.
I am more than willing to help you with your answers or correct the mistakes you may make.
I believe that this is one of the best approaches to learn English.

Riddle #1: How many letters are there in the alphabet?
Câu đố 1: Có bao nhiêu chữ cái trong bảng mẫu tự?
If you answer, "There are twenty-five letters in the alphabet," you are ... wrong, because this is a word game!
The correct answer is, "There are eight letters in the word "alphabet".
Nếu bạn trả lời có 25 chữ trong bảng mẫu tự, th́ sai rồi, v́ đây là chơi chữ. Từ "alphabet" chỉ có 8 chữ thôi.

Let me solve riddle #2:
In the alphabet, which letter can sting? = Trong bộ mẫu tự, chữ nào "chích"?
Letter b is pronounced "bee", which is also the name of the insect that stings you! (Bee = con ong)
Now, let's read riddle #4: What table has no legs? = Bàn ǵ không có chân?
The English word "Table" has at least two meanings in Vietnamese: (cái) bàn and (tấm) bảng
Ví dụ: table of multiplication = bảng nhân
Vậy: The table of multiplication has no legs!
Riddle #5 reads, "Why clocks are shy? = Tại sao đồng hồ th́ nhút nhát?.
In English, to be shy means to be afraid to speak!
Trong tiếng Anh, shy có nghiă là nhát = sợ nói.
Therefore, the answer is, "A clock is shy, because it has a face and two hands (có 2 kim), but it does not speak."
